Because it's Sunday, and generally, there's just a lot to get done. Today was mostly get yesterday's laundry put up and get the trash together and burned, but I also had a little fun. I got the .22 out and did a bit of target shooting. I need to get more shells, but every place I check, they are often out or the orders didn't come in or something. I may have to see if there are online places to get shells that can legally ship to Arkansas and go that route. I'm down to just under two boxes of shells, and for serious target shooting and general varming control, you need more than that.
I am not having a happy with Mom's lap quilt right now, though. I'm down to the last two butterflies, and the eighth one is a bugger. LOTS of partial stitches in it, and the parts of the pattern where they are is really tiny, so I have to use the magnifier frequently to see what goes where. This one has several black spots on it, so I'm doing them first and then I'll fill in around, as that's where the majority of the partial stitching is at, and it's driving me nuts. This one, I have a feeling, is going to take a while. But it's time for food and book hunting and general laziness for a couple hours, and then a ton of other indoor stuff like more sewing on that darned butterfly!

Seed catalogs!!!
Oh, this is nice. I got a bunch today, including Pinetree, Baker Creek, Totally Tomato, Johnnys and Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. Happy, happy, happy, because now, even if I don't put anything in next year, I can still get seeds to put away for when a place is bought or lots more room here is available. Oh, what JOY a day of seed catalogs brings! Also, other than some of the backstitching, Butterfly #7 is done so I just have two more to go and the finishing work, and the darn thing is finally done! I just don't know what embroidery thing to take with me next for before work and at the laundromat.

Quiet start to the day
Mainly because I don't have hubby rattling around. He's off this morning to the dentist to see about getting what's left of his teeth out and get dentures, which I told him would be prohibitively expensive, even with the insurance, but he's determined to give it a go. So it's nice and peaceful and quiet and I'm enjoying it while I can, because with him taking a vacation day to do this, I also don't have to rush to get together for work and can instead take my time and relax a bit before I drive myself in. Considering he usually insists on driving us in the truck to "save gas," whilst driving a gas-guzzling truck that gets half the mileage of my car, I'm not sure how that works out, but okay.
Got butterfly #7 done barring the backstitching for the details, which I got started on last night, but didn't get too far. I kept getting interrupted by various things, including hubby going to bed early to allow him to get up super early for the dentist this morninng, and cats snuggling and wanting to be held. So here I am, just a little before Christmas, still working on things, and generally enjoying a day. Time to hunt down books, whee!

I need a vacation
Things are so busy, here and at work, that I'm completely whipped. I've got arthritis aching, and a fibro flare from Satan's demense that is killing me for energy. The amount of energy I've got is just not enough to get me through everything, and while I wish it was, wishing doesn't make it better.
Serioiusly, there's stuff to cut down in the way of junk brush and dead wildflowers that needs burning. There's good wood to cut for the woodpile. There's trash to burn. There's scrap metal to pick up or yank off the Merlot and run to the scrap yard. And that's just the outside chores. Never mind cleaning the house, getting some needlework done, and writing that's not getting done very quickly, and you have a recipe for too much to do and too little time already, even before work gets tossed into the mix.
I think adulthood sucks. I want to stay home and get stuff done outside, then come in, make cocoa, and snuggle under a warm blanket with my needlework and have the TV on for background racket while I putz around with my stitchery. Is that really too much to ask? Apparently so, because in order for bills to get paid, I gotta work on SOMETHING that brings in a steady paycheck for a good while longer. Thus, I need a vacation. Now, I get Christmas and New Year's off, which will help, but then nothing after that unless I take a sick day until late April at the earliest. This is going to be a long slog to get to my anniversary holiday, Memorial Day, birthday holiday and vacation days, along with 4th of July and Labor Day to get me through the summer next year. Oh, says others, it's only four months till your anniversary date at work again. Right now, that feels like four months too many, haha. I need a nap before work today, so bye till tomorrow. Hugs, all!

Sleepy day
I really don't want to get up and moving. I'm tired. I ache. Yesterday was a bugger and I hope to goodness I never have to do THAT special order again. Tenders usually isn't bad, even for dicing. This special order was large dice. No biggie. The order required we send them through only two tenders at a time. No real big deal, other than it slowed things down considerably. The big problem was that we supposedly could only send them through tops first, which made it extremely complicated. Seriously, who thinks up this stuff and says, "Sure, our people can do that!" without thinking ahead about just how fast we really have to work. I have about half a second to look at each tender and determine if it's good, has a bone, has a dangly part hanging from a bad pull off the carcase, etc. when you have to do extra stuff on top of that, you get behind rather quickly. So it was a crappy day for the most part, and I was so glad when we finished that special order.
Nearly done with butterfly #7 on Mom's lap quilt, so I can then get busy working on the assembly, basting, quilting and binding. With any luck, I can have it done in time for a late Christmas/more or less on time birthday present. Next up, a pair of baby bibs that will be for sale, or maybe a small sampler type thing that will also be for sale. Those are travel/waiting at work so hubby can get us there early to socialize projects. My knitting and crochet are going to end up being strictly at home projects for the most part. The MAM afghan is a split project, as I can do the first four rounds on the go, but the joining round has to be done at home. Hauling that thing around as it grows would just be a bit much. On the other hand, thing like more socks will be easy enough to haul around as they are quite portable, and I need several more pairs. I'll probably go with something simple for those as they are being done with worsted weight acrylic, but I have to work with it before I can knit with it. By that, I mean I get to sit and strip out a strand of the yarn to take it from 4-ply to 3-ply to make it light enough to knit with. Unless I can afford to buy myself a crapload of sock yarn between now and then, as acrylic doesn't hold it's shape as well and can be rather hot. But my feet need to be warm at work.
However, it's time for a book hunt, so I'm off!!

Who needs a gym?
Shoot, I work in one, essentially. I get to climb up and down a short flight of stairs several times a day, as apparently, it is now part of my job to give everybody bathroom breaks twice a day. That means a lot of going down stairs, then up a different set, over and over, until I can finally go back up a set and be back to my own job. Hey, at least I'm getting exercise this way, haha!
Not feeling the love of Tuesday today. I would so much rather be staying home, doing some woodcutting and picking up scrap metal and burning trash until dark, then sitting down for a few hours of happy stitching with a DVD playing for background racket, than to go in and mess about with chicken today (or any day), but you gotta pay the bills somehow, and the crafting biz ain't that great yet. It's getting there. The writing biz needs to get better, too, but I need time to work on more than a page or two a day. But there is progress. Down to 2 1/2 butterflies and the finishing on the lap quilt for Mom and DD's present is going out today in the mail. Hubby's presents are bought, just need wrapping. So essentially, things in the holiday department are on track, for the most part. Wishing I had another month to work on things, but that ain't happening, so I will just deal with it. Once I get Mom's lap quilt done, though, all bets are off on the Sundays, since DST has killed any outside work time on Saturdays (because it's pitch black by the time we get home from errands now). I've got a ton of stuff to do and as long as the weather cooperates, it's gonna get done piece by inch. (And yes, when the lap quilt is done, I will take pictures and post them.) Hugs, all!

Yay, tis Monday
Two weeks and a half to Christmas and I think I'm ready. I have to get DD's present mailed to her, and Mom's is nowhere near complete so it will be late. Hubby's stuff is ready barring wrapping - if I even do that. We usually don't bother with wrapping, and just hand each other stuff, lol. No decorating this year again, but I finally understand why hubby doesn't want to. It's not that there's no little ones to decorate for. It was his mother's favorite time of year and she loved doing a lot of decorating for it. I'll just have to wear him down, reminding him it's mine, too, and eventually get Christmas rolling again like it's supposed to go in my family!
Yesterday was a disaster in some ways because so much of what we wanted to get done didn't, due to having to help the landlords move. *shaking my head* A lot of time was wasted due to all the griping about what should be moved when and how it should go on the truck and trailer, and etc. My best move was to stay in the truck and out of the way, helping watch for traffic and keep the guy's tempers in check. While they got things together before we left, such as hooking up the trailer, I took care of the cat boxes and put away laundry, because otherwise, we were going to be living out of the laundry basket all week.
I am glad I stayed in the truck. Apparently, our landlords are not the best of housekeepers, as JJ mentioned having to stomp on empty soda cans to walk around to the other end of the couch to move it out. One load, when we got to their new place, hubby found a mouse on the darn stuff! There's a flock of chickens at their new place, and hubby grabbed the mouse by the tail and threw it off the truck into the weeds near the chickens, who went nuts for it. A WWE-style fight between the chickens ensued, which was pretty funny to watch. I almost felt sorry for the mouse, because it didn't last long. I am glad that it's over, though, and we can get back to what is normal around here.
That means more crafting, more putting by, more clearing stuff up and metal scrapping from all the stuff around here that's literally laying on the ground as we find it from clearing brush. And it also means work, and since today is Monday, that means back to work for us. So I'm off to find books to share with y'all, and get my happy self together for work. Hugs, all!
