Getting better and some books (lots of books)

Bit by bit, things are getting better. Despite having to work 55-hour weeks to make sure the bills get paid after the stupid garnishment is taken out (I'll be so glad when a year of this is up and I can sue the crap out of the hospital and their stupid attorneys for ignoring the nearly 20-year-old court order that says I'm only responsible for 12% of "extraordinary medical expenses."), despite living in what's rapidly becoming a jungle because somebody won't get off their butt and do anything about cutting stuff back (never mind the promises to do so), despite getting a case of what we call "line flu" (you get all the symptoms but none of the time off because you don't get quite sick enough, though the barking cough for me is bad enough that it really sucks) ... despite all that, I'm happy.

Things are slowly getting better, in that at least the house isn't a complete disaster, the stupid garnishment is slowly getting paid down, my ex is paying SOME child support (more than normal for the last umpteen years, now that she's grown and gone, NOW he starts to pay off the $35K he owes in back support), the car's running good, my probation at work's nearly over (two more weeks!), I like my job, and I have plans for the next couple of years. Now I can't really talk about those plans, because there's issues involved that might cause some serious hiccups otherwise if I did. Let's just say that I may be doing things on my own, depending on the hubby's pulling his head out of his butt and starting to be more cooperative in the whole homesteading department (which he was fully behind when we started this, but apparently, he's now more into what's in it for him first, over and above self-sufficiency), but with or without him, there will be some serious changes going on. I has PLANS, and I'm not going to let anything get in the way of those plans coming to fruition. If it means I have to do it all myself, so be it. I'm fed up with waiting for others to help, and like The Little Red Hen, I'm going to do the work and enjoy the fruits of the labors all by myself. If nobody wants to help, then they don't get to reap rewards. Errr ... rant over, lol.

I got a bit of a rant on the last few weeks, I'm afraid, and I apologize for that. Letting myself get depressed over it all doesn't help, ya know? One gal I knew in college was studying for her psych degree and told me something about depression that really stuck with me all these years. "Depression," she told me, "is just anger turned inwards." I've gotten myself past the depression over things being like they are creeping around the last few weeks, and I do wish I could get Quentin to realize his depression isn't helping, but oh well. He's getting better, bit by bit, realizing that his time till he rehires isn't that much longer, but it's still a big problem. He really doesn't have much on his mind but that, and counting off the days, but he concentrates a bit much on that rather than on what he should be doing, so stuff isn't getting done that needs doing, other than absolute basics like trash and dishes.

Funny thing: only worked a half-day yesterday in a different department because I started getting a whopping headache. So I met Q at the laundromat where he'd run into one of our buddies from work, Ben. And while yakking, Ben mentioned how glad he was to see me back at the plant, because everybody that liked me had been just waiting for me to come back. Awwwwww ... how sweet. Cuz I know people liked me, but sometimes, it sure seems like nobody does. When I think like that, I just remember all my buddies from work who pick on me and talk with me and just generally keep my spirits up when things are going downhill. Least some things go right, all the time.

Ah well, it's time for me to get going. Now if we can just find a gas weed whacker, cuz the electric one was a good start and keeps things down around the house, but nobody in their right mind wants to drag six million pounds of electrical cord around outside to deal with stuff. Me included. Needed desperately: fencing and a couple of goats to EAT it down, lol. Anyhow, more next week, I have to get myself some more free books and see what other kind of trouble I can get into around here. Hugs all, my mood's up and staying there, so for now that is a good thing!

Now for the books. Hopefully, I can get this thing to allow the links properly this time, because not posting the new books is driving me nuts. It might work. Might not, lol. Everything else I've tried to use to send the links has blown up in my face, why not this too? *gigglesnort* Kind of funny, trying to help y'all with new book finds (especially cookbooks), and it keeps going flooey. Oh well. These were free when I got them, may not be free when you get them. YMMV and TANSTAAFL apply. Do please remember to right click and pick open in new tab/window to get to the book without leaving the list here on the blog. Otherwise, the darn links just go from here to the book and leave the blog. Grr.
