In that order. I made spaghetti for dinner last night, and we were so hungry, we ate it all. No leftovers for lunch today for once. Oh well. I'll figure something out, haha. But I didn't sleep well and I need more sleep. What I'll get is caffiene and to go to work. Yay, me. So this is going to be super short, because I'm having trouble spelling and stringing words together today.
Beans are starting to put out teeny little beans that I am definitely going to let go to seed. There isn't much, but if it can grow here, it will grow just about anywhere. Radishes - I have a few very tiny watermelon radishes going, and three or four white icicles. The icicles are way huge on a couple. Going to let them go to seed as well. I didn't have too many come up (or course, it helps when they put enough in the packet to meet what they say is in there), so instead of eating any, they are going to be let go to seed. I have a whopping TWO carrots trying to make it yet. Sweet peas and snapdragons were a dud, marigolds not much better. The first one that flowered, something ate the flower before it went to seed. However, I have a couple more blooms, both bright yellow out of a "french dwarf mix," that are trying to bloom. Beefsteak tomatoes are nearly done, thanks to the weather, but my sole, struggling large cherry tomato is around a whopping foot tall (oh yeah, sooo big) but it is starting to bud out a bit, so I'll get a few tomatoes and seeds from that as well.
The lap quilt for Mom got a bit more done on it, and I figured out how many of those squares I need to make for the afghan based on the baby afghan pattern. If I was making it as a baby afghan, it would only take 88 4-1/2" squares. For a queen-sized bed, it's going to take around four times that many - 282, to be exact. I have four done, lol. It's going to be a while before it's done! I need to put them together as I go to avoid the dreaded (for me) assembly process, but I didn't have a tapestry needle out here with me last night, so I don't have them together yet. Maybe today before work, if I can find my tapestry needles, or tonight after work. We shall see.
And wonder of wonders, one of the scrub tree groups in the one side of the yard has turned out to be worth keeping! ELDERBERRIES!!!! Woot!!! When the time comes to move, cuttings are going with me. The berries may be a bugger to pick (easiest to wait till they're ripe, pick the whole bunch in one go, and then take them inside to rake them off with a fork) but they make great wine and jelly. *grin* So in a week or two, I shall have to pick a bunch of berries. Time though, for book-hunting so I can wake up some more (or maybe sneak in an hour for a nap before work). Gosh, I really have GOT to get a lot more writing done so I can make money off royalties and eventually quit working outside the house, lol!
