Happy Easter!

No matter what your faith path, I hope today is brining you lots of joy and happiness at all the signs of spring everyone seems to be having now that Old Man Winter has finally lost his bitter cold grip on the land in the Northern Hemisphere. Here, as usual on a homestead, it brings work, lol. Happiness yes, but work as well. Farm chores never end, and no matter what some well-meaning but ill-informed folks think, with a farm or homestead, there are no sick days, there are no vacations, there are no days off, no sleeping in (well, not much) and certainly none of what most folks think happen. "Oh, you homestead? Gosh, I bet you get to spend a lot of time watching TV and eating bonbons, don't you?"

Uh, no. First, I'm not even sure what a bonbon is. (On searching, it seems to primarily be a chocolate-covered, bite-size or slightly larger than that, ice cream ball. Ok, I can go with the bonbons!) Second, TV really doesn't hold that much interest for me. I'd rather write, or work on the business end of things here, or be outside doing things like cutting wood or clearing up trash or whatever! Or like today - cutting wood was part of it, as was burning trash (had to get the house cans emptied), but I got my tomatoes planted in their planter. Hunting round, I also found a number of things I can use for improvised planters. Hee hee. There's more than one way to get a garden in around here. I'm bound and determined to get in a salad and soup garden this year, one way or another. So far, not doing so good with only four tomatoes in, but at least they are heirlooms, so I can save the seeds to grow more next year without having to buy plants or seeds.

But it's awful humid outside. The last few days have gotten warm rather quickly, which is nice, barring that we haven't had a chance to adapt, the way the temps bounced around for the last few weeks. And we've had to quit outside stuff because we need a late lunch and it's getting gray out, so it's likely to rain before we can get lunch finished and get back out there.

And in a few hours, when it gets dark out, I'm making dinner. Pork steaks, green beans and stuffing. Yummy. So scuse me, I am going to eat lunch, find y'all some good books and relax the afternoon away with business stuff. (I know, I'm nuts, business stuff is fun? Yeah, to me, it is.)
