Well, it's official!

My lead on days now knows that tomorrow is my last day with her. Carlos told her today, and everybody is sad I'm going to nights, but glad, too, that I've got the guts to take it on and get away from a lead who is more a boss and doesn't understand how to effectively do most of the jobs. She's learning some stuff, but the things that are basic to the job, as far as being able to relieve us for bathroom breaks and do our job well while we're gone, are just evading her completely. There are other issues as well, but suffice it to say that in some ways, I'm kind of sad, but in some I'm kind of glad. At least Tuesday, being my anniversary day, means that for eight hours, I will make more per hour than Quentin, lol. $11.40 for my regular pay and then $11.40 for my eight hours "holiday pay," as your anniversary day at Tysons is considered one of our eight paid holidays during the year. Everybody on second shift is looking forward to having me there; they really need an experienced set of hands to fill in a hole, and that will be me.

As far as non-work, the seasonal creeks are starting to dry up a little bit, but are still running hard and high for the most part. Trees and brush are starting to green up quite a bit, with what was barely nubs of leaf buds last week now fluffing out to tiny new leaves for this year. I saw the first butterfly of the year this afternoon when I got home - some kind of black swallowtail. And I have a job for Quentin this weekend, if he can squeak it in somewhere in his copious amounts of spare time (HA! He hasn't got any more spare time than I do, and mine's in pretty short supply!) ... well, he needs to put Victor up on the ramps and chock the rear tires and slide underneath. My little car has a bit of an exhaust leak somewhere. It's small but if it's not taken care of with a chunk of exhaust tape NOW, it's just going to get worse fast and be more costly to fix in the end. Fixing it won't be a problem. Wrap it up in exhaust tape and done. FINDING it will be the bugger, because it's not big, just enough for me to notice Victor doesn't sound like a happy purr right now, but a rather cheesed off bumble bee BZZZZZZZ-ing down the road.

I also know what's wrong with this laptop, and have at least temporarily fixed it. The poor thing is three years old and the power cord is a bit frayed in a couple of spots. Black electrical tape has repaired that for now, and possibly this weekend, Quentin will also find copious spare time to clip out the bit between the frays, and splice them back together. I may just have him leave it alone for now and not trouble trouble till trouble troubles me again. (Plus not having to worry if clipping and splicing will leave me with a working power cord when he's done ... probably would, but I don't know that I want to risk it.)

I need to go find you guys some books - there's a real slew of them tonight, I see, so hopefully, I can stay awake long enough to get them to you! Pizza Hut for dinner tonight (Q's is waiting for him to get home) to celebrate the shift change, Easter, and my anniversary, and I ate my whole half, I was just that hungry. Only the carbs have me snoozy!!!! (Ok, on second look, not so many. Somebody wrote up a bunch of booklets and various types of wineries in the Napa Valley.)
