Nice to sleep in, haha

Even though I'll be starting on second shift tonight, it's awful nice to be able to sleep a bit later in the day. I've never been all that comfortable getting up at the crack of dawn, even when the kids were little and in school, and I was working with my Mom in her accounting and tax office. Even at Butterball and this last year, first shift has never been all that easy for me. I can do it, but the getting up so early really bites some days. Sometimes, it's just the fact that working through the dark and sleeping when everybody else, it seems, has to be up so early, makes the day go better and faster. (Though I'm still trying to figure out where this last year went.)

Quentin and I are both hoping this week kind of zips by, though tomorrow being my anniversary, he still keeps teasing me about it being annoying that for those first eight hours, I'll make nearly $23 an hour. Hee hee. That's going to be fun. Right now, he's sitting next to me with his armguards (because he's on the cone line and has to use sharp knives, and be next to people doing same, he has to have them for protective gear) ... he's redoing his name on his so folks will know which ones are his. When we go to lunch break, everybody has to dump their arm guards in the tub for gear so it can be washed and sterilized ... and it's a bit hard to find the same ones you had in the morning if your name isn't on them. So everybody pretty much marks theirs in some way to indicate which ones belong to each person.

It's going to rain today, which will be good for my maters. Saves me watering them, haha. I really need to get a small two-wheeled wheelbarrow, too, so we can clean up more crap and get big logs to the woodpile and such much faster than we have been able to do so far. It's piece by inch getting things done, but little by little, things can happen now with more income going to be coming in from my extra on the paycheck (the shift premium plus any overtime), and I can hardly wait to share the projects with all of you as they get done. Life is going to be getting so exciting now that things are making some changes!
